How to become a Member of GCM New England

Join and reap the benefits of being a NE chapter Geriatric Care Manager.

GCM New England is the regional New England area chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) association. We are one of nine regional chapters that cover the entire country.

To join us at GCM New England, you must first become a member of NAPGCM, the national association, then you can further choose to join our NE chapter. The membership application for both organizations must be completed at the National GCM website, and you can do both simultaneously. The National Association website is located at caremanager.org.  Simply click on the “Join Us” tab to locate the appropriate membership application.

The National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) defines and promotes the highest standards for private practice. Membership is open to qualified individuals either with a degree in a field in human services (social work, psychology, nursing, gerontology) or an equivalent background, who are also experienced in the delivery of services to the elderly and their families. Members of GCMNE (New England) must meet or exceed the standards of NAPGCM.

As of 2008, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers voted to further elevate the professional standards of GCMs in the organization by requiring all NAPGCM members to be certified.  For more information on how you, can obtain such certification, please visit the websites of the official certification organizations below, or visit NAPGCM at caremanager.org.

Certifications accepted by NAPGCM

  • Provides a step in the development of geriatric care management as a profession

We welcome you to attend any of our upcoming GCMNE program meetings as a guest.  The list of upcoming programs is located to the right.  We usually meet at an assisted living or long term care facility in the Eastern Massachusetts/Metro-West area. Our meetings begin with a tour of the hosting facility and a snack provided by them, followed by a guest speaker on a topic of professional interest to our membership.  Guests are allowed to attend one (1) program meeting then they must join to continue to attend and reap the full benefits of membership.
