Founded in 1986, our purpose has been to define and promote the highest standards of practice in care management through dynamic leadership, continuing education and opportunities for collaborative relationships among our members.
Professional Geriatric Care Managers (GCMs) are highly skilled professionals dedicated to promoting quality of life for those who are growing older. Care Managers meet this goal by designing plans which maximize the independence, well-being and dignity of each client.
Our membership is steadily expanding as the word spreads about how we support families dealing with the complex issues of aging. Members of GCM-NE must meet the standards set by the National Association when seeking to join. Membership is open to qualified individuals with either a degree in a field of human services (e.g. social work, psychology, nursing, gerontology, physical or occupational therapy) or an equivalent background, who are also experienced in the delivery of care and services to an older population. Members are expected to achieve certification through one of three certifying bodies.
If you are looking for a Geriatric Care Manager to assist with your family’s elder care planning needs, please consult our online Directory for an expert in your area. Or, if you are interested in joining NAPGCM and GCMNE as a professional GCM, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
We look forward to hearing from you.
